The Winnifred Stewart Association has been enhancing the quality of life for people with developmental disabilities since 1953. Today, the Winnifred Stewart Association is an innovator in working with adults with developmental disabilities. Over the course of their adult life, our clients and their families benefit from customized programs designed to meet the diverse and changing needs of people with developmental disabilities. Our core programs include:

Winnifred Stewart Community Centre
The Winnifred Stewart Association is entering an exciting new phase in its 53 years of operations- the expansion of our programs and services for people with developmental disabilities that we believe will create new opportunities for all residents of our local community.
We are in the process of determining needs for the redevelopment and renovation of our building located at 11130 131 Street. While the current and future needs of our clients are a top priority, we want this new building to be more open to, and used by the community. We are therefore discussing the needs of the community for a community centre-type building with various groups.
An outcome we are hoping for is that our clients will form new relationships and connections with community members. We see there is great opportunity for our clients to play a larger role in community life, where they can share their gifts and hopefully meet people who are willing to share theirs. Many of these opportunities are identified through person-centred planning that is completed with each client. As an association, we also want to share many of the resources we have available, many of which were funded by community fund raising.
A study of the building concluded redevelopment was by far the least expensive and disruptive solution to meet the needs of our programs and services as well as the community. The budget for the Winnifred Stewart Community Centre building is estimated at $9.2 million. Fund raising for this project began in 2005.
